Getting Involved

To share the gift of reading with another adult, volunteers must complete a 12-hour tutor training workshop.  You will learn how to help your student read and write better.  We will match you with a student whose schedule fits yours.  Then you will begin tutoring.

You and your student will meet in the library two to three hours a week.  You will choose the days and times.  We ask that you commit to tutoring for at least six months.

Besides tutoring, there are a number of other ways you can help.  You may make a financial or in-kind contribution:

  • Sponsor a tutor training workshop
  • Donate funds for books and materials
  • Help in the Literacy Office
  • Hold a fund-raiser for Literacy Services
  • Contribute graphic design or printing services
  • Publicize Literacy Services through your company publications
