The Master Plan of Recreational Trails is a component of the Open Space Element of the City’s General Plan. It was adopted in 1993, and identifies a network of existing and proposed trail segments citywide, and also addresses implementation standards and policies. This review was initiated in response to community concerns regarding implementation of the Master Plan. The consulting firm of Purkis · Rose rsi is conducting the review to evaluate existing trail conditions and the feasibility of constructing the trail network as per the 1993 Plan. They are also analyzing current policies pertaining to trail construction, maintenance and management practices. The end product of this study will be a series of recommendations, which may lead to an amendment of the Plan.
