Prepares City Council meeting agendas, compiles minutes of Council meetings, maintains City's historical records, provides copies of City documents for a fee, conducts municipal elections, more.
The City Council provides policy direction for the City of Orange and enacts all municipal legislation. The City Council serves in a quasi-judicial role on certain administrative appeals. The City Council directs the administration of its policy decisions through the Orange City Manager for delegation to appropriate City staff.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the City according to the City Council's direction. Reviews the performance of other City departments, responds to resident inquiries about City activities, and manages the City's information technology contract with Affiliated Computer Services (ACS).
Includes the City's planning, zoning, code compliance, and building inspection divisions. Prepares the City's General Plan, reviews and approves resident requests for zone changes, new construction and remodels, and more.
Provides economic assistance, where appropriate, to businesses wishing to move to or expand in Orange. Offers non-monetary assistance to other businesses depending upon need.
Prepares the City's utility bills, business licenses, and paramedic subscription services. Manages the City's finances, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, investments, purchasing, and cash receipts. Prepares the City Budget.
Provides centralized information resources and staff to serve people of all ages in Orange in meeting their information needs. Provides cultural and educational programs for all ages. Collects, organizes preserves and makes available a variety of materials documenting the City's history.
Handles any issue relating to the hiring, firing, recruitment, or ongoing employment, of the City's workforce, answers questions relating to benefits, job postings and more.
Maintain public safety and provides a full spectrum of services, including a comprehensive Citizen's Police Academy, Volunteer Programand an active Neighborhood Watch. The Department is always interested in hearing from those who are contemplating a rewarding career in law enforcement.
