This project replaces Edison's street lights on the wooden power poles with acorn style light fixtures and antique style poles within the project limits. Additional lights will be installed to improve roadway lighting. The City of Orange is the lead agency for the project and will oversee the private contractor performing the work. Due to the long lead time necessary for manufacturing the new poles and fixtures the project is divided into two phases, as follows:
Phase I Project Duration Construction Hours Work Consists Of
Start in mid-October with anticipated completion within forty-five (45) calendar days. 7 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday Underground and preparation work.
Phase II Project Duration Construction Hours Work Consists Of
Start mid-December or early January 2013 with completion fourteen (14) calendar days. 7 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday Install new light poles and fixtures.
Traffic Impacts - There will be no full road closures during the daily construction schedule. Street parking will be restricted on Cypress St. and Almond Ave. within the construction area. Businesses and residents should anticipate traffic delays and occasional limited access during certain periods of construction activity. The schedule may shift due to inclement weather or material supply issues.
