City of Orange Amateur Radio (COAR) Volunteers
Are you interested in helping the Orange Police Department with emergency communications? The City of Orange Amateur Radio (COAR) volunteers provide auxiliary communication for the Orange Police Department during an emergency, natural disaster, and public service events. COAR volunteers are able to communicate through handheld radios while phone lines have been disabled. All COAR members should obtain an amateur radio license through the Federal Communications Commission prior to joining and have successfully graduated from the Orange Police Department Citizen Academy.
Tune in as a guest during our weekly equipment tests! Check-ins are held every Monday night at 7:30 pm on frequency 446.140, closed repeater W6OPD.
